Lincoln Square and Ravenswood-
Lincoln Square is a neighborhood located on the North Side of Chicago. Overall, Lincoln Square is made up of the smaller neighborhoods of Ravenswood Gardens, Ravenswood Manor, Bowmanville, and Budlong Woods. Lincoln Square is bound by Peterson and Bryn Mawr on the north, Montrose on the south, Ravenswood on the east, and the Chicago River on the west. The official heart of Lincoln Square is located at the intersection of Lawrence, Western, and Lincoln Avenues.
Lincoln Square is similar to a very small town, but set within this huge city. Busy street avenues full of commercial stores, then quiet, tree-lined streets. Lincoln Square has a feel of a neighborhood atmosphere, and the area's residential properties are still available at affordable prices. The commercial areas feature gourmet restaurants, European-style cafes, and many specialty stores. Historically, Lincoln Square was known as a heavily German influenced and populated neighborhood, but now contains shops of many other cultures. The Brown Line "El" train runs through this area.
Closely related, Ravenswood is also becoming a popular destination. With many rehab projects and numerous small shops and cafes, young professionals and families alike are attracted to the area. Ravenswood is a neighborhood of Lincoln Square. Ravenswood's approximate area is bordered by Montrose (4400 N) on the south, Foster (5200 N) on the north, and Western (2400 W) on the west. The Brown Line runs through Ravenswood's center and buses run across several major streets in Ravenswood. There are also Metra commuter railroad stations in this neighborhood with stops at Ravenswood and Lawrence.
