North Center is bordered on the north by Montrose Avenue (4400 N), on the south by Diversey Parkway (2800 N), on the west by the Chicago River (2700 W), and on the east by Ravenswood Avenue (1800 W). North Center has it geographic center at the intersection of Lincoln Avenue, Irving Park Road, and Damen Avenue. North Center is a vibrant, rapidly growing neighborhood comprised of several smaller neighborhoods. Most residents identify themselves as a member of one of the other neighborhoods alongside North Center, such as St. Bens or Roscoe Village. However, this neighborhood is a big up and comer. Featuring all of the dining, bars and clubs, shopping, and other commerce. Recently this neighborhood has had an influx of younger families and professional singles. To keep pace with the rise in population, there has been a spike in the amount of rehab and new-construction single family home and condominium projects in development. North Center is ideal for those prospective home buyers who find themselves priced out of nearby Lakeview and or Lincoln Park.
As the number of families have grown, so have the retailers, restaurants, bars, theaters and businesses. The six-corner intersection of Lincoln Avenue, Irving Park, and Damen Avenue, the geographic center of North Center, contains many of these offerings, blending family-owned shops and restaurants of the past with the new, modern options.
The schools of North Center are well renowed in Chicago and attract families to the area. There is an abundance of public parks in this area. The Chicago River also runs through North Center and offers great views and complements many of the parks.
Public transportation is abundant with many CTA busses and the "El" (Brown Line) with stops at Addison, Montrose, and Irving Park roads.
