Uptown and Sheridan Park-

Uptown is a diverse neighborhood located north of Chicago's downtown.  Uptown is bound by Foster Avenue (5200 N) on the north, Lake Michigan on the east, Montrose (4400 N) on the south, and Ashland (1600 W) on the west.  To the north of Uptown is Edgewater, to the west is Lincoln Square, and to the south is Lakeview

Historically Uptown was known as an entertainment destination.  The Aragon Ballroom (used to host acts like Frank Sinantra and Charlie Chaplin), Riviera Theatre, Uptown Theatre, and Green Mill Jazz Club (former speakeasy in the days of Al Capone) are all located in Uptown, all within a half block of the Lawrence and Broadway intersection.  The Uptown Entertainment District is currently undergoing a revival, with new restaurants and shops opening up all over.   Uptown Square, at the center of the Uptown Entertainment District, was designated as a National Historic District on the National Register of Historic Places in 2000.

Uptown features two public beaches:  Foster Beach and Montrose Beach.  There is also a dog beach at the southern edge of Montrose Beach.  Montrose Harbor, near Montrose Beach, is a marina for local and transient boaters.  Uptown also has an extensive park system.  The primary park is Lincoln Park, which has soccer and athletic fields, a segment of the Chicago lakefront bicycle/running path, Montrose Point Bird Sanctuary, a sledding hill, Puptown Dog Park, Wilson Skatepark, and Waveland Golf Course.  Additionally there are two separate parks just west of Lake Shore Drive, Clarendon Park and Margate Park, each featuring athletic fields, playgrounds, and indoor sports facilities.

Due to Uptown's proximity to the Lakeview area, Uptown has been on the rise.  Those who bought homes a few years ago have seen property values rise quickly as the number of properties being renovated and new construction going up has dramatically increased.  While it is growing in popularity, there are still opportunities to find affordable properties in UptownUptown is easily accessible via CTA buses and multiple "El" (Red and Purple Line) stops.

Uptown is a larger area that comprises of the smaller sub-neighborhoods of Sheridan Park, Buena Park, and Margate Park

Technically a sub-neighborhood of Uptown, Sheridan Park is bound by Lawrence Avenue on the north, Clark on the west, Montrose on the south, and Broadway on the east.  This neighborhood is listed as a National Register Historic District, featuring a blend of architecture styles like six-flats, single family homes, and courtyard apartment buildings.  Recently renovations and rehabilitations in Sheridan Park have grown, and further improved the area's residential properties.
